Note: Most thalli are dark brown, do not have conspicuous pseudocyphellae, have perithecia with
a KOH-violet reaction (in median section), and develop spores with a length of 25–28 µm.
Very light-coloured thalli (possibly a different species) with perithecia that show almost no
colour reaction in KOH and slightly shorter spores (up to 24 µm) may occur in between (e.g.,
the specimen in GZU)
